Just like the word “base” maintains its meaning in several Romance and Germanic languages, Base collects in one piece a multiplicity of uses, atmospheres, identities, experiences.
In “Base”, industrial labor comes together with the refinement of the unique piece in a relationship of mutual exaltation. “Base” features a single protagonist element, glass, revealing its two completely different identities.
All the possibilities of the material to assume feminine, flexible volumes are juxtaposed to neat, clean geometric cuts. Two glass structures are joined at the center by a metal ring containing the luminous element.
Effortlessly elegant and functional – it is this unprecedented association of qualities that naturally confers “Base” its double identity of glass sculpture in the daylight and lamp in the dark.
A further duality surfaces when the light is switched on: since both bases of the lamp can work as a top and/or a lower support, “Base” can provide an atmospheric glow, thanks to the columnar pattern and amber hue of one side, and a reading light, thanks to the smoky color and clear top of the other. It is then up to the user to decide which base will be at the base of their “Base” experience.
